Not too long ago I published a post about having my Entrecard ads for Kids of Queers rejected. I had a great response from the Entrecard users who were delighted to have me place my card on their website or blog. You can catch up here and see who all the decent bloggers are out there. Make sure you frequent their sites as they are great ones.
I’d like to say that after that post I received no more rejections but sadly that is not the case. I don’t even try to advertise this blog on Entrecard any more because I really don’t like the rejection even if it is only from a bunch of stay at home moms who have no sense of humor or sense of decency. I still feel rejected and it sucks. My other blogs never get rejected, I have never rejected an ad and I don’t know any other blogger who gets their ads rejected as much as this one does. I do know others who get rejected as much and they all have some form of gay, lesbian, queer in the name of their blog.
Let me just say here that I don’t think one chooses to be gay. I don’t think someone can catch being gay by being around others who are gay (but wouldn’t that be fun if it were possible?) and I certainly don’t think that you can catch gay by having a 125 X125 card on your site that references a gay themed blog.
Let me also say if you have rainbows on your blog you are going to be harassed by people like me who assume you are a gay friendly blog because of the rainbow. For those of you who skipped Gay Friendly 101, rainbows mean you are either gay or you want to attract the glbt audience to your site. My dentist, who is not gay but wants to attract more clients added a rainbow to his advertising. He has increased his practice considerably and hanging out in the waiting room is a lot more fun that before. There are many churches in my area who have done the same thing. If you are a homo hating closed minded person who wants to raise homo hating closed minded little children you would do well to stay away from blogs with rainbows as well as dentists and churches. You would also do well to remove the rainbow from your site as you are attracting the very group of people whom you abhor.
I listed the people who welcomed my ad last time. I linked to them as well. I am going to list the people who recently rejected my ads but I’m not going to link as that would defeat the purpose of this post. If you see your blog listed here you should be ashamed of yourself.

Wow! I’m sorry to hear about the rejects you have gotten because of what people “perceive” to the the content of your blog. I’ve rejected ads, but only because I don’t think a website that talks about comics or video games would be interesting to my crowd. . . but having said that, I do specify that when I reject.

My ad price took a big spike this weekend. It got up to 1536, which is a record for me. Nice, but then it seems like once it hits a high, no one buys til it drops down again.

I actually get my ads rejected quite a bit. I think my blog pregnant with cancer maybe scares people? I think it’s something some people don’t want to think about. I don’t know. I get “not relevant” and I also get “design clash” or something like that from that one, and my other blog as well. I don’t see how a picture of my face can clash with someone’s page design, but whatever. I always feel a sense of rejection because I’ll be honest, I never check to see what someone’s blog is about. I pretty much approve all ads. I don’t really think about it. I figure if you watch TV you see ads for all kinds of things from ice cream to insurance. I mean, how can it really be not relevant? I am trying to reach a wider audience…but again to each their own. I’d show your ad and not think twice.

Sandi, first of all I love your blog. Writing about having cancer, especially while pregnant, must be a difficult thing to do. I get “design clash” as well which makes me laugh since most blogs are filled with all sorts of junk that hardly fits with any real design. I do agree that it probably makes people nervous because it scares them. It shouldn’t but it does. It reminds me of when I got divorced and lost most of my friends, they didn’t want to be around someone who actually had a failed marriage. If it could happen to me it could happen to them.
I hope everyone will accept your ads along with mine. I also think it would be cool if a lot of people put their ads on your blog. At least the cool blogs. You can put your ads on all of my blogs anytime you want.

I just don’t understand prejudice and ignorance in this day and age or any day and age for that matter.
I used to get upset and frustrated, trying to find places to advert on EC. It was extremely difficult in the beginning, I’ve tried advertising on those that advertised on mine and would rejected me as well, but hang in there, there are a lot of blogs in Entrecard, and more and more bloggers joining, last time I checked.
i think i rarely reject an ads myself, and the only reason is, if their logo have something to do with satan or evil symbol or something like that, but other than that I approved all my advertisers. and if you can afford my ad amount ,i have no problem approving it,bec I like rainbow colors, the colors bring happiness.
btw, i remember, i was also been rejected once but he is so nice to message me on EC dashboard that he can’t accept my ads bec he is abt to close his account, other than that, i never been rejected.

It’s all about photography and pictures. I focus on floral and nature shots.
Who rejected me? An environmental green blog. The reason given was that it didn’t fit their criteria.

Can’t we just accept and love our counterparts, regardless of race, religion, or sexual orientation? While I hate to jump to conclusions and don’t like thinking the worst of people, it absolutely sucks that your blog might be shunned by some. I think it’s great, and I hope you continue, despite what some others may think. Really, the loss is theirs. They are missing out on a great blog.

My blogs have been rejected many times and it hurt my feelings at first, but I don’t let it bother me any more because I turned off the e-mail thing so I don’t get the rejection alerts anymore and now if I’m rejected I at least don’t see it so I don’t care.

Well, you know that you can advertise on my site (nice and cheap now and it will probably stay that way since I am not pursuing Entrecard like I used to — still, you’ll probably get some hits).
And I’ve been rejected, too, which always makes me feel a little funny. I’ve also rejected ads, but mainly ones that are totally about making $$$. I’m sure that a larger number of the Entrecard rejections for KoQ means what you think it does, unfortunately.

sorry that has happened. I just started entrecard and always wonder when someone is going to decline me. I also wonder if I were to display their badge on my blog, would they do the same since the word ‘gay’ is in the title. No one has yet declined me, but no one is posting my entrecard on their blog either…lol. (i try not to think too hard about this.)

I wouldn’t take it too hard. I’ve had my blogs rejected and it doesn’t bother me one whit.
I figure it could be that my blog simply doesn’t mesh with the content of theirs and I leave it at that. Could it be they might consider me another Arkansas redneck and would rather avoid my ads on that basis? Does it matter a bit? Nope.
Here’s the point — I wouldn’t waste too much time dwelling on it. People are going to do what they’re going to do, and there’s not a damn thing that you, the kid next door or I can do about it.

I am an entrecard user too! I have to say that I understand why you’d feel rejected. Don’t worry, though. Everyone has different tastes. It doesn’t mean they are closeted homo haters.
I am a strong Christian and believe that people who practice homosexuality are wrong. But, please understand, BEING a homosexual is not wrong. You’re right – we can’t choose what we have been made by God. But we can choose our behavior. We all are born with sinful natures. A person who embezzles money, a child who shoplifts from a store, a person who lies to their family, all these things are wrong and no more or less wrong than practicing homosexual behavior. This is what I believe, anyway.
So, I guess you are probably thinking I’m a narrow-minded jerk. Really, I’m not. I respect your thoughts, even though I don’t agree with them. I hope you can also respect other’s thoughts, even in you don’t agree with them.
I would say anyone who openly promotes hate or derogatory comments, nope – no reason to respect their thoughts. But people who just think differently than you shouldn’t all be lumped into one big category of closeted homo haters. If you were created by God – and you are – then you deserve my love, even if we don’t see the world the same way.
Jen, I am so sorry. I was rejected a couple of times and was CRUSHED. My immediate and mature reaction was ‘WHAT THE FUCK?!?!?!’ lol Then I settled down to ‘Put up your dukes you asshole’. Pretty funny from someone who is 5’3″.
Then I just sighed and reminded myself I was a much better writer than they were. LOL That felt the best.
I know the reason your ad has been rejected by some is not something that can be spun or joked about. Ignorance and hatred are scary. But I do believe those people are in the definite minority.
The town I live right next door to is a very gay friendly one. At least 50% of our congregation at church is gay. I didn’t chose my church for that reason, but I sure didn’t reject it for that reason either. I was so glad my children grew up seeing that we are all the same. This banner is stretched out in front of our church doors: GOD’S UNCONDITIONAL LOVE PRACTICED HERE.
